RUNNING SHOES

The Tryathletics shoe fitting process

At Tryathletics, we know how important a pair of running shoes can be. We rely on experience and a hands-on approach to guide our customers through the process of finding a fit that they love in a shoe that suits their lifestyle. Of course, it varies from person to person, but there are a few standard things you can expect from a shoe fitting with us.

  • STEP ONE. EVALUATION

First, we determine your specific needs by talking about your personal goals and any injury history you may have. We want to get as much information as we can to ensure a great fit, so we encourage you to bring in old pairs of shoes to allow us to examine your wear patterns. This first step is the most important part of our process and what makes it so effective.

  • STEP TWO: TRIAL RUNS

Once we have an understanding of your requirements, we select a few pairs of shoes for you to try for fit and feel. You can run or walk on our treadmill, take a few steps outside or make a lap inside our store. As you’re walking and running, we will be observing to gauge your feelings for each pair. We’ll also check the sizes and make recommendations accordingly.

Our goal is to give you several options, including different cushion and support choices, based on our knowledge of your needs. We strive to keep the process streamlined and efficient, but rest assured that we’ll pull as many pairs of shoes as needed until we find your fit. Plus, we can recommend insoles, socks and other products to help. Tryathletics has plenty of options for everyone and our team maintains knowledge of the shoes and products we carry to find what suits each customer best.

  • STEP THREE: YOUR NEW FAVORITE KICKS

In the end, we make sure our customers are making the decision, rather than our team telling them which pair of shoes to choose. Our process is as much about your feedback and how you feel in the shoes as it is about our expertise. Trust that we never expect anyone to buy a pair of shoes they aren’t happy with, and our suggestions are made with only you in mind.

Other Important Points:

When you’re planning to purchase a pair of running shoes, allow ample time for the fitting. We always encourage our customers to try several pairs for comparison of fit and feel, and to try walking or running in them before making a final decision.

Just because a friend likes a certain shoe or you’ve read a great internet review, doesn’t mean it’s the right shoe for you. Each person is bio-mechanically different and our needs are not all the same.

Running shoes range in price from $100 to $160, with most falling around $120.

Tryathletics carries women’s shoes in sizes 5-12 and men’s shoes in sizes 7-16, with many narrow and wide widths available.

Rotating two or more pairs of shoes can reduce your risk of injury, extend the lifespan of your shoes and give you increased flexibility to wear different shoes for different types of runs. If you’re running more than 40 miles per week or you typically run several days in a row, a second or third pair of shoes might be worth considering. Note that we offer a 10% discount if you buy two or more pairs at the same time!

Special orders are welcome. If Tryathletics doesn’t have exactly what you’re looking for, we are more than happy to order shoes for you.
